Oak Lawn Basketball Sunday Night Olympic 3-on-3 Basketball League

The Oak Lawn Basketball program will again host its fall clinic series and 3-on-3 league on Sunday nights this fall.

Each Sunday night, players will go through a 45 minute skill workout focused on footwork, ball handling, finishing, shooting, scoring, and spacing. We will also play Olympic-style 3x3 basketball, giving players more touches, play-making opportunities, and decisions. 3x3 played this way is non-stop, competitive, and fun!

Each session has a maximum of 40 participants, so sign up soon!

What is Olympic 3x3?

  • 2 teams of 3 + 1 sub
  • 10 minute game, :12 shot clock on each offensive possession.
  • No break after scoring (no checking the ball up), no half-time, no quarters
  • First to 21 points wins (by 1’s and 2’s)
  • First to 2 points if game goes to OT

Some History

At Oak Lawn, we’ve been playing some form of Olympic (FIBA) 3x3 in the offseason for many years as a unique player development tool for our players.  In 2017, a group of Oak Lawn Basketball players including Adem Osmani (c/o ‘18), Sami Osmani (c/o ’20, Creighton University), and Trey Ward (c/o ’20, St. Xavier University) qualified for the USA Basketball 3x3 U18 championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they eventually won a silver medal! 3x3 Basketball made its Olympic debut at the 2021 Summer Olympics.
