Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 Winter Sports Tryout Information and Procedures

SPORT SPECIFIC TRYOUT INFORMATION:

Athletes should report to the following locations for check-in 15 minutes prior to the activity start time:

 

Boys Bowling:

Oct. 23rd & Oct. 24th from 3:30pm-5:30pm

Location: Palos Lanes – 11025 Southwest Highway Palos Hills, IL 60465 – School transportation will be provided if necessary and will depart from the Spartan Lobby at 3:10pm.

Competitive Cheerleading:

Oct. 23rd & Oct. 24th from 3:30pm – 6:00pm

Location: Gym 101

Attire for tryouts will be a t-shirt and shorts, cheer/gym shoes, hair pulled back into a ponytail, no jewelry, no acrylic/long nails.

Competitive Dance:

Oct. 23rd 5:30pm – 7:00pm

Location: Dance Studio

Dancers will be evaluated on stage presence, calypso and surprise leaps, double and triple pirouettes, chaine turns, and memory of a 1 min set of choreography. Please wear black, form fitting attire and jazz shoes with hair pulled back. No jewelry. Previous studio dance experience and completion of the dance team audition packet is a requirement for this audition.

Girls Basketball:

Sophomores & Freshman Tryouts: Oct. 30th from 3:30pm-5:30pm in the Spartan Gym & Oct. 31st from 3:30pm-5:30pm in the Auditorium Gym

Varsity Tryouts: Oct. 30th from 5:30pm-7:30pm in the Spartan Gym & Oct. 31st from 3:30pm-5:30pm in the Spartan Gym

All students trying out should be wearing shorts, an Oak Lawn T-shirt, and basketball shoes. Also, please bring your own water bottle.

Boys Swim & Dive:

Dive: Nov. 20th & 21st – 6:00am-7:45am, Nov. 22nd – 8:00am-10:00am

Swim: Nov. 20th & Nov. 21st - 3:00pm-5:00pm, Nov. 22nd – 10:00am-12:00pm

The following needs to be completed prior to check-in for tryouts:

  • Athletes must have a current physical on file with the athletic office (dated within the last 13 months) prior to the day of the tryout. Upon check-in, students will be checked for a valid physical. If they do not have a valid physical on file, they will be sent home. Physical forms can be downloaded at this link or from https://school.snap.app/OakLawnCommunityHS/ under the “Resources” section. Updated physical forms should be hand delivered to the athletic office or emailed to our athletic office staff.
  • Athletes must have registered online for the sport. Registration is available on our athletic web site https://school.snap.app/OakLawnCommunityHS/ under the “Registration” tab at the top of the website, and also at https://oaklawncommunityhs.8to18.com/. Athletes will be checked for completed registration at check-in. If a parent has not registered the athlete prior to the day of the tryout, they will be sent home.

 

Additional tryout information:

Athletes need to bring their own water bottle, shoes, towels, and other personal equipment.
