HASSETT LEADS OAK LAWN GIRLS HOOPS, CLAIMS ATHLETE OF MONTH AWARD

Senior Maeve Hassett turned up the heat for the month of January on the court for Oak Lawn Community High School girls basketball. She scored an average of 10.7 points per game, she swiped 17 steals in the nine games, and she knocked down 23 three-pointers in the month. As a result, Hassett was recently recognized as the Oak Lawn Athlete of the Month for January.

“Maeve led the way in many statistical categories during the month,” head coach Mark Sevedge said. “She made three-pointers at a 33-percent clip, which is solid from beyond the arc. Her field-goal percentage was 42-percent, and she was second on the team in rebounding with 42 boards during January.

“Maeve is the only senior on the team and is asked to do a lot on and off the court. She is one our captains and has done a great job leading this young program.”
