Sophomore Charlie Shane finished his wrestling season with a record of 15-14, and there appears to be an even brighter future for the Oak Lawn Community High School athlete. He played a significant role in dual meets, securing nine critical pins and was only a match away from advancing to the Illinois High School Association Sectional Tournament.
Since the end of the season, he has kicked off his offseason impressively by qualifying for the Fresh-Soph State Tournament, achieving remarkable third-place finishes in both the regional and sectional.
“Off the mat, Charlie is an exemplary role model in terms of work ethic, responsibility, and in his interactions with teammates and coaches,” head coach David Early said.
Fans should look for more big things from Shane on the mat over his next two years as a Spartan.
