As Molly Sheridan competes for the Oak Lawn Community High School girls track team, she takes it personally—as in setting new personal records.
And in the month of February, she set a new personal record in the 800-meter run. In the first indoor meet of the year, Sheridan took first place in the open 800 and anchored the first-place 1,600-meter relay team. At the extremely competitive Olivet Nazarene University indoor meet consisting of 18 teams, she set another PR in the 800 and was the only Spartan to score points for the team.
“Molly is the girls track and field queen of personal records and first-place finishes,” head coach Joe Butler said. “She is active outside of track by serving on the Junior Class Advisory Board, she’s a Student Helper, and she also serves on the Spartan Athletic Leadership Team. She is the embodiment of focus, pride, and performance. Whether it is practice or an official meet, Molly leads by example with her quiet intensity and preparedness to succeed.”
