SPARTANS CELEBRATE COLLEGE BOARD RECOGNITION

Oak Lawn Community High School is proud to announce that twenty-nine students are recognized by The College Board National Recognition Programs. The programs award academic honors to high-performing, underrepresented students. The five national recognition programs include the National African American Recognition Program, National First- Generation Recognition Program (beginning in 2024), National Hispanic Recognition Program, National Indigenous Recognition Program, and National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program. The academic honors reflect the achievement of both the individual and the school, providing recipients with a downloadable certificate on BigFuture. In the past, school communities have garnered media coverage, attention from colleges that want to recruit their students, and recognition from the state and district. As importantly, colleges and universities use these honors to identify and recruit high-achieving awardees who participate in Student Search Service.

The students recognized include: Hamzah Abdeljaber, Sara Abdelrahman, Mustafa Adam, Omar Ali, Fabiana Bayas, Kaitlyn Berkery, Charlotte Gallian, Jessica Komperda, Tristan Kramarz, Madyson Lane, Jocelyn Lemus, Alejandro Medina, Fabio Noguera, Kailee O’Connoe, Rihana Osmani, Shawn Perry, Delaney Phillips, Karla Romero, Kamil Schab, Heidi Solis, Micheal Swan, Omar Tellez, Joshua Torres, Dylan Walsh, Virginia Whitener, Hailey Wierzgac, Jacob Wilkosz, Gabriel Wojas, and Ivan Zamora.

Dr. Lauren May, OLCHS Principal, said, “I am so proud of these students for distinguishing themselves through their GPA, PSAT scores, and AP exam performance. They are dedicated students and excellent examples of Spartan PRIDE.”
