Hispanic Heritage Month Events:

Join Ms. Torres and Mr. Joiner this Friday, October 4th, before school in the cafeteria for an epic Mexican Pastry Eating Contest! Sweet conchas, churros, and more are waiting for you. Don’t miss out—sign up today and bring your appetite!

Attention Spartans! Join OLAS Monday, October 7th, from 3:10 to 5:30 PM in the media center for a special movie screening of A Million Miles Away! This inspiring 2023 biographical drama tells the incredible story of José M. Hernández, the first Mexican American astronaut. Don't miss this chance to celebrate his journey with us. Snacks will be served! See you there!

On behalf of Student Council and OLCHS Cheer team, Nothing Bundt Cakes from Oak Lawn will be selling their delicious bundtlets at the Friday night Football game, on October 4th during the JV and Varsity games. Nothing Bundt Cakes will be donating $1 for each cake sold to our Dash for Den fundraiser. A group of Student Council and Cheer members will be attending the Dash for Den to support and bring awareness to the opioid epidemic. The Dash for Den run/walk will take place on Sunday, October 20 at the Children’s Farm in Palos. All proceeds will be donated. Come out and support our football team and our great cause!!!

From the nurse’s office:

All freshmen must provide the health office with their ninth-grade physical examination and record of vaccinations before October 15th to prevent being excluded from school. Additionally, all seniors must provide the health office a copy of their meningococcal vaccine record before October 15th to prevent being excluded from school. These two requirements are state mandated. Please stop by the nurse’s office if you have any questions.

Ventra cards can be renewed for the 2024-25 school year and new Ventra cards can be purchased for $2.00 in the Business Office, Room 123.  If you’ve already purchased a card online from the OLCHS Webstore, please pick it up in the Business Office. Business Office hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm. Plan accordingly! You will not be excused from class to renew or purchase a card.

The iTeam Genius Bar is open from 7:45 am - 3:00 pm. Students can come to the Media Center for support.

Club/Team News

Bible Club - Just a reminder that our next Bible Club meeting is TOMORROW right after school in room 212.  We will be doing a Bible study, we will have snacks, and we will be discussing our first service field trip to Feed My Starving Children.  We would love to have you join us.  Anyone is welcome

FSCAB - FSCAB's next meeting will be TODAY Wednesday, October 2nd at 3:00pm in Student Services. We will be discussing service learning and fundraising opportunities. If you can’t make this meeting, please contact Ms. Sears or Mrs. Madsen. 

OLAS - Hey Spartans! Ready to show off your moves and bring the heat? Join our OLAS Latin Dance Group and be part of something exciting! We’ve got two big performances this year, and we need YOU to help us light up the stage. Come learn fun choreographies with a lively, energetic crew, make new friends, and have a blast! Peer Tutors - Are you interested in joining the Peer Tutors Club? Peer tutors earn service hours and gain valuable leadership experience. If you have excellent grades and would like to apply, complete the application here: https://forms.gle/9SMaHPGSYoLmh6uN8 Students who have been at OLCHS at least one full semester can join from any grade level. Criteria for joining and more details are on the application form.

Spartan Sisterhood - We hope to see all those interested in Spartan Sisterhood tomorrow morning at 8am in Ms. Odeh’s room.

Need service hours?  Here are the opportunities of the week:

  • Next Saturday (10/12) is the last volunteer orientation at the Children's Farm – if you want to volunteer for any of their fall Pumpkin Days, this is your last chance!
  • Signups are now open for the PTSA Craft Fair on Sat. 10/19
  • Help out at the Oak Lawn Park District Howl-O-Ween event on Sat. 10/19

IMPORTANT NOTE – There are very few haunted houses that qualify for service hours. If you are interested in volunteering at a haunted house, please make sure you check with Mrs. Kenny FIRST to ensure it is approved and that you will get credit for your time.
