This inspiring 2023 biographical drama tells the incredible story of José M. Hernández, the first Mexican American astronaut. Don't miss this chance to celebrate his journey with us. Join Mr. Shehan Monday, October 7th, during Spartan Plus for an epic Sing-Along Event you will not want to miss! Feel free to bring a guitar. Don’t miss out—sign up today!

On behalf of Student Council and OLCHS Cheer team, Nothing Bundt Cakes from Oak Lawn will be selling their delicious bundtlets at the Football game TONIGHT during the JV and Varsity games. Nothing Bundt Cakes will be donating $1 for each cake sold to our Dash for Den fundraiser. A group of Student Council and Cheer members will be attending the Dash for Den to support and bring awareness to the opioid epidemic. The Dash for Den run/walk will take place on Sunday, October 20 at the Children’s Farm in Palos. All proceeds will be donated. Come out and support our football team and our great cause!!!

From the nurse’s office:

All freshmen must provide the health office with their ninth-grade physical examination and record of vaccinations before October 15th to prevent being excluded from school. Additionally, all seniors must provide the health office a copy of their meningococcal vaccine record before October 15th to prevent being excluded from school. These two requirements are state mandated. Please stop by the nurse’s office if you have any questions.

Ventra cards can be renewed for the 2024-25 school year and new Ventra cards can be purchased for $2.00 in the Business Office, Room 123.  If you’ve already purchased a card online from the OLCHS Webstore, please pick it up in the Business Office. Business Office hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm. Plan accordingly! You will not be excused from class to renew or purchase a card.

The iTeam Genius Bar is open from 7:45 am - 3:00 pm. Students can come to the Media Center for support.

Peer Tutors - Are you interested in joining the Peer Tutors Club? Peer tutors earn service hours and gain valuable leadership experience. If you have excellent grades and would like to apply, complete the application here: https://forms.gle/9SMaHPGSYoLmh6uN8 Students who have been at OLCHS at least one full semester can join from any grade level. Criteria for joining and more details are on the application form.

Seniors – need help creating your FSA ID?  Have questions about financial aid?  A representative from the IL Student Assistance Commission will be available to meet with you on Monday during Spartan Plus.  Sign up in arena scheduling by filtering Student Services, then Kenny.

Need service hours?  Here are the opportunities of the week:

  • Next Saturday (10/12) is the last volunteer orientation at the Children's Farm – if you want to volunteer for any of their fall Pumpkin Days, this is your last chance!
  • Signups are now open for the PTSA Craft Fair on Sat. 10/19
  • Help out at the Oak Lawn Park District Howl-O-Ween event on Sat. 10/19

IMPORTANT NOTE – There are very few haunted houses that qualify for service hours. If you are interested in volunteering at a haunted house, please make sure you check with Mrs. Kenny FIRST to ensure it is approved and that you will get credit for your time.

If you are taking the SAT TOMORROW, be sure you have the latest BlueBook downloaded to your iPad.  Also, be sure to print up your ticket.  Students must show a physical ID to be admitted to the test.  A school ID, driver’s license, or passport are acceptable.  If you have any questions, see your counselor.
