The recent Illinois High School Association Sectional meet in girls swimming was one to remember for Oak Lawn Community High School. The group of Alie Gabriel, Mya Orozco, Nina Kadlub, and Amelia Fudala broke two varsity relay records, one in the 200-yard freestyle relay and one in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Individually, all four of them also set personal-best times in their own events. Gabriel and Fudala certainly stood out with excellent performances. Gabriel placed sixth in the 500 freestyle, and Fudala placed sixth in the 50 freestyle.
“These girls had multiple Top-12 finishes as well,” head coach Alexandra Woehlert said. “The four of them really swam their hearts out this past weekend along with the rest of the sectional team.”
