MCGRATH STEPS UP AS VOCAL LEADER FOR OAK LAWN GIRLS BASKETBALL

It isn’t always necessarily the superstar that takes an important leadership role on a team, sometimes that positive voice can come from a role player. For the Oak Lawn Community High School girls basketball team, senior Annie McGrath has emerged as that vocal leader.

McGrath speaks up in practice, and her communication has been vital to the success of the Spartan defense. She stepped up to become the vocal leader on the court. She is coming off the bench with a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, and she is providing valuable offense as well with an average of seven points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game.

“Her progress and improvement as a player are going to be very important for us to be successful this season,” head coach Mark Sevedge said. “Annie has been vocal in practice, which is a key element of our defense. She isn’t afraid to be loud and to use her voice to get her teammates to play hard.”
