Dear Spartan Families,
As we approach the end of the semester, I would like to share some important reminders regarding final exams and the upcoming break.
Additionally, I want to take a moment to celebrate the significant progress we've seen this semester. Students have demonstrated increased engagement in their learning, and we’ve seen a positive shift in classroom behavior, with reduced cell phone usage and more focus on academic work. Attendance has also improved, and we are grateful for the efforts students and families have made to prioritize regular school attendance. Students arriving late to school and classrooms continue to be an area for growth for us, and we appreciate your partnership in emphasizing the importance of being on time with your student. I look forward to seeing this continued growth in the upcoming semester. Keep up the great work! Please read on for important information about the end of the Fall semester.
Final Exam Schedule: Final exams and final projects will take place on Wednesday, December 18, Thursday, December 19, and Friday, December 20, 2024, following the posted bell schedule. Please note that Wednesday’s final exam will begin at 8:32 AM (there will be no late start that day). Many courses require a traditional final exam. For courses without a traditional exam, the final exam periods offer time for additional instruction, student presentations, and other opportunities to consolidate learning.
Student Attendance: On final exam days, students are required to be on campus for their scheduled exam periods. Attendance is not required for study hall or student aide assignments. Students who remain on campus during unassigned times must report to the student cafeteria. Please remind your student to remain in their classroom for the entire exam period.
PACE Bus Information: For families utilizing the PACE bus service, the special bus routes will be available to return students home at the following times:
- Wednesday, December 18: 12:25 PM
- Thursday, December 19 & Friday, December 20: 11:06 AM
Absences and Make-Up Exams: If a student will be absent for any final exam, they must complete a Pre-Arranged Absence Form in the Dean’s Office 122. Please remind your student that if they miss an exam, they will need to arrange a make-up session with their teacher. Make-up exams will take place from 11:10 AM to 12:25 PM on each exam day. Students who do not complete exams during make-up periods will be issued an incomplete grade on the Semester 1 report card and will not receive credit for the course(s) until the exam is completed.
Semester 2 Starts January 7: Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, and this will mark the start of semester 2. Students should review their Skyward schedules for updated courses and any changes to their class assignments.
As we approach the end of the semester, I encourage all students to finish strong and make the most of the time remaining. Please don’t hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns. Your student’s classroom teacher and/or school counselor are the first points of contact for concerns.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
With high hopes for a strong Fall Semester finish,
Dr. Lauren May, Principal
