Colm Heneghan has been a captain of the Oak Lawn Community High School boys swim and dive team for the past two seasons. Besides showing great leadership and helping younger swimmers, he is also breaking personal records this season.
Heneghan set a new PR in the 100-yard butterfly by finally breaking the 1:00 mark. He also set a new PR in the 500-yard freestyle by going under 6:00.
“He has really taken the role of captain to heart this season,” head coach Derek Maciaga said. “I have seen him on numerous occasions mentoring some of the younger swimmers and not being afraid to show his passion for the sport. Colm backs up his captain role with impressive times in the pool. Colm has expressed interest in eventually becoming a swim coach himself one day.”
