OLCHS Honors SRO Detective Johnson

On February 14, 2025, Oak Lawn Community High School proudly celebrated National School Resource Officer (SRO) Day to honor and recognize the dedicated service of the school's School Resource Officer, Detective Johnson, and all law enforcement professionals who make positive impacts within school communities across the nation.

National School Resource Officer Day provides an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to express their gratitude for the critical role SROs play in promoting safety, fostering positive relationships, and enhancing the overall school climate. Students took time to write notes of appreciation for Detective Johnson.

"We are incredibly fortunate to have Detective Johnson as a trusted presence at Oak Lawn Community High School. His commitment to the safety and well-being of our students is immeasurable," said Dean Jamie Hernandez, Dean of Oak Lawn Community High School. "On this special day, we wanted to acknowledge the invaluable work that our SRO does every day to ensure that our school is a safe, welcoming environment for all."

SROs are a vital resource in creating a secure atmosphere where students feel supported and connected. In addition to responding to emergencies, School Resource Officers like Detective Johnson serve as mentors, educators, and a source of guidance for students, helping to foster trust and build positive relationships with law enforcement.

"As an SRO, it's my privilege to work alongside students, faculty, and the community to ensure that Oak Lawn remains a place where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally," said Detective Johnson. "I am honored by the support I’ve received today and every day from the Oak Lawn Community High School family."

Oak Lawn Community High School is proud to observe National School Resource Officer Day and acknowledges the crucial contributions of SROs who continue to safeguard the well-being of students across the country.
