STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS - FEBRUARY 19, 2025

Stuff You Need to Know

Good Wednesday morning. Earlier this month, the Grammys held their annual awards ceremony. Musicians from all over the country and the world hope to hear their names called so they can go onstage and receive their award. Can you guess the musician who has won the most Grammys in the history of the awards? If you guessed Beyonce, you would be correct. Beyonce Knowles, born in Houston, Texas, has won more Grammys than any other musical artist in history with 35. The next closest award winner is Georg Solti, a Hungarian-born composer. What makes Beyonce’s feat so impressive is how she has won the awards. She won her first Grammy before turning 20 years old when she won two awards for the song “Say My Name” while singing in the group Destiny’s Child. She would later win as a solo artist for her debut solo album, “Dangerously in Love”. As of this year, she is credited with being the first Black woman to win a Grammy in the genre of country music. We will talk more about Black musicians winning the Grammys tomorrow. This has been your Black History fact for Feb 19, 2025. Remember, Black History is American history.
