bla·tant (blāt′nt)
PART OF SPEECH/DEFINITION:
ADJ.: 1. Bad behavior done openly and unashamedly.

Stuff You Need to Know
Good Monday morning. Today’s fact is about the first Black Supreme Court Justice. Thurgood Marshall was born in the year 1908 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was not only a Supreme Court Judge, but he was a civil rights activist, and a lawyer. It was Thurgood Marshall who successfully argued the case that would become known as Brown vs. the Board of Education. It was this case that led to the desegregation of public schools in America. As a lawyer, Marshall won 29 of the 32 cases he argued before the Supreme Court, meaning he won over 90% of the cases he represented! On June 13, 1967, President Lyndon B. Johnson nominated Marshall to the Supreme Court, where he was later confirmed by the United States Senate with a vote of 69 approval and 11 denial. Marshall died on January 24, 1993. This has been your Black History fact for Feb 24, 2025. Remember, Black History is American History!
