OAK LAWN ATHLETES EARN ACADEMIC RECOGNITION

Each sports season the Illinois High School Association and the South Suburban Conference recognize student-athletes for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.

 

The IHSA Scholastic Achievement Award recipients are senior and junior athletes who have completed at least one full season in an IHSA interscholastic activity and maintained a cumulative unweighted grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. SSC All-Academic Athletic Team recipients are senior varsity athletes who have completed at least one full season in an SSC interscholastic activity and maintained a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher.

 

Here’s a look at the recipients from Oak Lawn Community High School this winter. SSC All-Academic Athletic Team members are denoted with an asterisk.

 

In boys basketball the recipients were Jack Dempsey, John Olejniczak, Omar Saleh, Bashar Nassar*, and Dylan Walsh*.

 

For boys bowling it was David Bush, Vincent McBrien, and Gavin Rybicki*.

 

Salameh Salman earned the honor for boys swim and dive.

 

In competitive dance it was Alyssa Paplawskas, Rosario Tellez, and Charlotte Gallien*.

For girls basketball the recipients were Sara Abdelrahman, Emma Delberto, Bianca Fleitas, Briany Lare, Kaitlyn Berkery*, Jacquelin Canales*, Annie McGrath*, Rihana Osmani*, Lamia Quinones*, and Briana Torres*.

 

In girls bowling the recipients were Hailey Meskill, Allison Brown*, and Amanda Youngren*.

 

Charvelle McLain* earned the honor for girls wrestling.
